BE SAFE WHEN YOU HIT THE BEACH!
Welcome to Panama City Beach! Have fun when you hit the beach, but remember "SAFETY FIRST". First of all, please check the flag colors flying overheard before you enter the waters. Click HERE for what all the flag colors mean.
If you get caught in the gulf during a bad rip current, HERE are some safety tips.
Lightning Safety Tips  Lightning Safety Tips1. PLAN in advance your evacuation and safety measures. When you first see lightning or hear thunder, activate your emergency plan. Now is the time to go to a building or a vehicle. Lightning often precedes rain, so don't wait for the rain to begin before suspending activities.
2. IF OUTDOORS...Avoid water. Avoid the high ground. Avoid open spaces. Avoid all metal objects including electric wires, fences, machinery, motors, power tools, etc. Unsafe places include underneath canopies, small picnic or rain shelters, or near trees. Where possible, find shelter in a substantial building or in a fully enclosed metal vehicle such as a car, truck or a van with the windows completely shut.
If lightning is striking nearby when you are outside, you should:
A. Crouch down. Put feet together. Place hands over ears to minimize hearing damage from thunder. B. Avoid proximity (minimum of 15 ft.) to other people.
3. IF INDOORS... Avoid water. Stay away from doors and windows. Do not use the telephone. Take off head sets. Turn off, unplug, and stay away from appliances, computers, power tools, & TV sets. Lightning may strike exterior electric and phone lines, inducing shocks to inside equipment.
4. SUSPEND ACTIVITIES for 30 minutes after the last observed lightning or thunder.
5. INJURED PERSONS do not carry an electrical charge and can be handled safely. Apply First Aid procedures to a lightning victim if you are qualified to do so. Call 911 or send for help immediately.
6. KNOW YOUR EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBERS. LOCAL PUPPY MISSING!
A local boy Justen is looking for his beloved puppy. Little "Pearl" was last seen in the St. Andrews area on June 27. There is a $100.00 reward up for her. Again, her name is Pearl. She is about 8 months old now. She is a border collie mix and is mostly black with some white. She does have a chip in her. If anyone thinks they found her, they can bring her to any Veteranarian office and have her scanned for the chip number. For more call 890-1789. Workout with Family and Friends
Get a pair of roller blades and go roller-skating for at least thirty minutes. Not only will your cardiac muscles be strengthened, you will also end up having great abs and lovely legs! It’s no wonder that kids love roller-skating!
Nothing can replace walking if you are looking for an easy way to keep fit! You can increase your speed and time, once you feel comfortable with the exercise that you get by simply walking.
If you have a problematic joint or back, swimming is a good option. You are at a low risk of injury when you go swimming, but you improve your fitness level and can get rid of those aches and pains by remaining fit.
Cycle your way to good health and stamina! Not only will you feel good, you will also look good and keep on looking good when you cycle regularly.
Skateboarding is a good way to stay fit. You should of course be sensible about your heart rate by keeping it within limits and not getting out of breath. Also be sensible about safety measures. This is not only for teenagers – everyone who can and should do it!

HELP A LOCAL FAMILY!

 Here's an opportunity for you to be a blessing to a local family. On August 18th, a fire took the home of Fred and Judy Gilley in Bunker Creek, Walton County, FL, which is off of Hwy 79 and Steelfield Rd just on the other side of West Bay. Fred's 23 year old son Riki is also living with the couple. They got out with their lives and nothing else. Currenty living in a temporary domicile made available by neighbors, and donations from the community of Bunker, they are currently attempting to put their lives back together. However, they must vacate this home by the 1st of October as it must be made available to others. Due to the fact that they are living on an extremely limited income due to their disabilities, they are in urgent need of any and all help available. - You want your child to be happy - Almost more than anything else, you want to see evidence that your child is happy, well-adjusted, and secure. You want this for them more than you want it for yourself.
- You are their one true love - For so many years, you are your child's sun, moon, and stars. You are the keeper of their small open hearts, their only one. This essential truth, when fully appreciated, makes parenting the most fulfilling thing you'll ever do.
Pat yourself on the back, mom and dad. You're doing a great job!!

 Steve Norris here built an awesome treehouse for his two sons in a 58 year old silver maple tree in Ontario, Canada. It's equipped with electricity, cable TV, an intercom, a urinal, smoke detector and more. Read more about it HERE
We also had a call telling us about the cool treehouse at the Taunton Children's Home in Wewahitcha. Their treehouse is built on pylons and sits in the water. The Taunton Children's Home is a wonderful place for kids without a home. Since 1978, the Tauntons have cared for over 200 kids WITHOUT any kind of government assistance. They even won a "Use Your Life Award" from the Oprah Winfrey Show. - Save up errands and do them all at once.
- Clip coupons for items you normally buy.
